So we got Shiny's new Frontier 85 today. She's about halfway up the shoulder adjustment already, but I think she's got another 4 inches to go.
I was PLEASED to discover that the seat we ordered in July was manufactured in June of 2011. So much better than last time, when our seat was purchased in January of 2007, but manufactured in January of 2006.
Had to move the bottom buckle all the way forward, as she's still in diapers and a little stocky. Got the shoulder straps adjusted perfectly. And it is installed, block forward (block forward for harness, block back for booster), using LATCH connectors (the Dodge Grand Caravan is good up to 48 pounds on those), back tether tight.
The seat does not move AT ALL.
We moved the Boulevard to the back side seat (we have a 1/3-2/3 seat arrangement, it's installed on the 1/3) which meant no LATCH, but the belt lockoff, combined with my brother in law conveniently kneeling on the seat, that seat doesn't move either. There's NO back tether location in that position, but the seat is so tight, I'm not too worried about it, given we're using the seatbelt to secure it. I wanted to install it rear facing, but there flat out was not room. We have a special adult handicapped seat installed in front of that position, one that rotates, and it simply cannot move forward. My niece is 20-some-odd pounds and well over two years. If she was going to ride with me often, we'd have found another option, as I prefer to keep kids rear facing until at least 30 pounds.
So my niece will be using the seat until it expires in January. Then we'll do another shuffle and sort, and may get the handicapped seat uninstalled (it was for my mother in law, who had very limited mobility, she's dead now) so that we'll have another set of LATCH connectors available.
