Happy Birthday Linnea!

Yesterday, we stumbled into a car seat check at our Peds office. I knew they were having a safety fair but I didn't know about the seat check. It was by appointment only but two people had cancelled so we took a spot. I wanted to double check my tethering to the seatbelt. One of the people doing the checks, not sure if he was certified or just a helper, said in 6 years of doing checks, he had never seen that or heard of that. Another person found it in their manual and Ok'd it and then someone who knew about it double checked and said it was fine.

I told them I want to become a tech and they were thrilled. They are having a class in the area in Sept. and the price is being reduced because they are desperate for techs. Problem is, we are going to NY in Sept. I'm hoping we can work around the date and that I can find childcare/homeschool help. It is a long shot, but maybe I can finally get certified.

I've added a picture of the seatbelt tether to my carseat photos here: http://www.kodakgallery.com/Slideshow.jsp?mode=fromshare&Uc=by5ozvmy.4xpeoj9i&Uy=-usfiwm&Ux=1 It is the last one.

I drive an Olds Silhouette. It has two tether anchors for the captian's chairs, but they are under the 3rd row seats. I have to climb in the back of the van and move the 3rd row up to reach them. Since we only have one seat for dd and it moves often, I started anchoring to the seatbelt to save time and effort in the moves.

I'm not sure if you can tell from the pic. but I locked the seatbelt and then tightened the tether so that it didn't ratchet in too far and would stay locked. It is pretty easy to do and much easier than getting to our poorly designed anchors.
