Convertible or Harnessed Booster ?

I am starting to research the best carseats to add for when my son outgrows his infant carrier and moves to a convertible. My daughter is currently in a Britax Advocate FF and will be between 2.5 - 3 yo when we need to move my son from his infant carrier. Would you recommend keeping my daughter in a convertible until she is older or is a harnessed booster just as good/safe? I've looked at either the Frontier or Nautilis for harnessed boosters. Our vehicles are a Toyota 4runner and a Toyota Corolla.

If your daughter is forward facing, there's no safety difference between a combination seat or a convertible. They're both forward facing harnessed seats.

If she's under four and rear facing, I'd keep her rear facing and buy a second convertible of some sort. Otherwise, if she's forward facing, I'd pass down her seat and buy her something new.

how old is your daughter now? because the new recommendation is to rearface until AT LEAST 2yrs old... but preferably to rearface as long as possible.

also, how much does she weigh?

that's about what I figured... under 2, baby should be rearfacing...

and of course, the longer she faces the rear, the better, as the carseat absorbs the crash forces instead of the child when rearfacing.

is she in the classic (35lb limit rf, 65lb limit forward facing) Advocate or in the newer Advocate 70??

That's also going to factor into who would get the new seat... and budget would help us figure out what would work best long term, but of course I would definitely be getting a 2nd convertible and keeping both babies rearfacing as long as may be.
