A dear friend of mine is a foster mom, and is a mentor through a support group of sorts to new foster parents as they work through the system of becoming foster parents, it's a really cool program. Anyway, her mentee graduated her final inspections and such a few weeks ago, and got the call that they'll be meeting with a sibling group of three tomorrow and if all goes well, the kids will be coming home with them sometime next week. This is super exciting for them because they've been through the ringer of failed fertility treatments and a failed international adoption and 10+ years worth of not being able to be parents. This particular sibling group is very likely for them to be able to adopt them in 18 months or so if foster goes well.
She called me in a panic wanting to know what car seats to get that would fit in her 99 Lexus RX300, the kids are 6 weeks, 2 years & 4 years so she came over to my house and we tried out a TON of combinations between my seats and some that I cobbled together from other friends (omg 95 degree car seat installation should be a sport).
We ended up settling on (left to right) RF Radian, Nautilus, Keyfit all installed with seatbelts. It was a heckuva squeeze, but the Keyfit *just* eeks into the base and she really wanted to do an infant seat rather than another convertible.
And if anyone is curious about the Radian in this car, the center seat has this weird wedge cut out of it I guess to store the seat belt buckles:
And I couldn't get the Radian there RF because of it. It's a lapbelt only locking latchplate and the buckle stalk is like nine million miles long. It may have been possible if I buggered with it long enough, but we were hoping to get the FFer in the center anyway and the Nauti fit nicely and the Radian went very smoothly outboard so I gave up.
Anyway, it was just one of those cool warm fuzzies I wanted to share.
