Allergic to car seat cover?

I moved the youngest into his Advocate 70, it used to be a cowmoo, now it is an onyx. Since he has been riding in it full time for the last 2 days, he is getting rashes all over his face. Could he be allergic to the material?

Levi is allergic to the stuff they put on there to make it flame retardant. If we are in the car for a while, I put a playsilk between him and the cover (super thin, but keeps the cover off his skin). Its gotten better the more we wash the covers, I've washed them a ton of times with his special laundry soap to help get the flame stuff off.

if he were having an allergic reaction to it, it would be where his body is contacting the fabric (I know this as back when the Regent came out, some kids were allergic to the dyes used in the Sahara Fabric)

Can you put back on the cowmoo and see if it happens in that cover?

even though it may not be THAT hot, it's still hot out and everyone feels temps differently... which is why my daughter can literally spend all day out in 88* heat comfortable in long sleeves and long jeans... but her brother is dripping sweat by the end of it and is usually not wearing a shirt... just a pair of shorts.

She starts feeling cold and NEEDS at least a hoodie, sweatshirt, or jacket if it is so much as 70*... he has gone to school in shorts and a t-shirt when it's only 50 out and been fine and not understood why I was frustrated that his father let him go to school like that (we got a note home that they were concerned he was underdressed)

I traded the cow for the onyx. What I think I am going to do is, put him in the classic Marathon while I wash the onyx cover, then see if it is the heat or the fabric. I am hoping it is just the heat, I don't feel like trading or buying a new cover. Not a good day for my washing machine to die. :( LOL!!

The cover isn't really touching anywhere else on his body. He usually wears tee shirts and shorts. It is the black part on the seat that is causing the problem. It looks more like hives than a heat reash, I could be wrong, though.

A contact allergy will, in almost all cases, be confined to the area that was in contact with the allergen.

Backs of legs, arms, maybe the sides of his face, places that are in direct contact with the fabric.
