Disclaimer: This seat is not sold in the US and is being used in a special needs situation. But it is cool and you can look at it if you want. :p

I am long overdue in posting pics of DS3's seat, the Maxi-Cosi CabrioFix. It's seriously my favorite seat we've had. The base (EasyFix) is the best thing ever and I love how all the color indicators turn from red to green when things are placed properly. Wish the all the seats here were the same.

I almost bought one years ago for my son, but I just couldn't feel comfortable with a 3 point harness. The base is great though and the sun canopy is AWESOME as it is just a bit of fabric that stows away when not in use.

It looks like a regular infant seat only with a foot prop on the base...why did you want this particular seat if I may ask? Just wondering what the big difference is :)

What I really needed it for was the 3-point harness and didn't want a car bed. DS3 has OI (brittle bone disorder) and had broken femurs that required a Pavlik harness. The harness was full body and had straps that went up from the knees to the chest holding the legs in a frog position. I would not have been able to tighten a 5-point harness properly. Also, he kept his right arm held tightly to his body for quite a while and if we forced it out to pull his arm through the straps, we could have broken him. Standard procedure for broken arms in babies with OI is to splint and wrap to the body. With a 3-point harness, you can just thread one strap under rather than having the strap lay over the wrapped arm.

Poor little guy!! My XH's girlfriend's daughter has that (she's adopted from Russia) I just wish they would have the little girl rear facing

How the nylon-like canopy works:

Love love love!!! :) so cute! And do any of the us seats have a canopy like that?

Sent from my iPod touch, sorry for any auto-correct typos!

Super cute kiddo! Almost forgot to look at the seat :p

It looks really cool though, and I love the color. The canopy is...different? I can't decide if I'd like that or not. Seeing the 3 point harness with no clip is just so strange to me!

Out of curiosity, and you're free to not answer - when he outgrows that seat will you move him into a regular 5-point convertible?

I dreamt about this seat last night, I looked at the pictures before bed and apparently being pregnant and a carseat nut allows you to dream of seats you've only seen in one picture.

Anyway, its really cool. I'm not a fan of the three point harness, but I can totally see why you bought it and use it as it would make casting and transporting him much easier.
I was wondering about when he outgrows it as well.

He is absolutly adorable. I love how long and blonde his hair is, so cute!

When he outgrows it, we will switch to a regular 5-point convertible. Now just to find the perfect one... I prefer that he never FF, but goes from RF to booster if possible. Lots of leg room would be good, even though he has short legs. Also thinking a continuous harness may be a good thing for accomodating unknown future casts/splints.

I know you have time before you have to think about this, but are you thinking of sticking with foreign seats or will you use a domestic seat?

I love some of the Swedish Britax seats that have super-high RF limits. :) Oh, and the Duo Logic 2. And the Brio Zento. :p They are SUPER expensive, though. I am not sure if they have a continuous harness or not.

I would love to have a Swedish seat for him and that might be the best thing, but I am really hoping that something new comes out here in the mean time that will work. I've looked into it and it's just sooo expensive. Plus, I'd like it to work on an airplane as well if possible, even if it would FF on a plane.
