I took 80 lbs of carseats to the dump this weekend. There was your vehicle is weighed before and after, so I know that I tossed 80 lbs of carseats. I don't like to risk leaving them ont he curb, so i take them directly there.
In case you are curious, I tossed the Frontier 85 and the MyRide that were in our wreck a few weeks ago. Also, getting tossed was the Keyfit 30 that was wrecked almost 2 years ago (I'd been saving it use during a TRU turn in event, but I finally gave up).
Also, I tossed what is theoretically a perfectly good Radian XTSL. I was having LATCH strap issues, which they were going to correct by sending me a new one. Also the headwings were slipping, so the bolts needed to be tightened. All fine and well, until I noticed that there was damage to the RF boot. One of the little "feet" had been crushed (corner of the plastic was bent with lots of white stress discoloration around the bent area). I know I can get a new boot for it, but I'd bet money that the damage was caused by where it would press against the lower anchors at the bight of the seat. I know it wasn't an installation error since I had another tech and two instructors check it out to be sure. So, I figured 1) it would be likely it might happen again, and 2) that just too many problems with one seat--I'd never trust it again.
Just kind of made me giggle to throw out 80 lbs of nothing but carseats.
