What is it made of?

The older style Britax Roundabouts that is. A friend was asking about her old seat (read: 9 year old seat) and asking if I knew anywhere she could donate it to. I told her about expirations and she is going to destroy the seat but is wanting to recycle it. Our city recycling takes pretty much any type of plastic and a lot of metal (I've been told by a local tech that almost any seat can be thrown in our curbside bin). But, what are the metal latch bars made of on the seat? I'm not sure the date of her seat but her daughter that used it is 10 years old. And no, I don't know what cover she has for it. I asked her to save it until I could see it.

hey, instead of recycling it, what about cleaning it and using it for M (remove the harnesses and latch obviously) as a tv/reading chair??

I know, the girl does not lack in chairs... but what a comfy one!

LOL funny you say that. When my MA was at my parents house it was sitting by their entry way in a little cubby since I kept forgetting it. My dad would sit DS in it while Dad got ready. He told me when it comes time to toss it, not to. He wants to make a sturdier base for it and use it as a chair for DS.

and they're so appropriately sized... and with the recline feature, if he did attach it to a sturdier base, it could be like a recliner (sort of)
