That's a new seat belt problem!

At a check event tonight, a fellow tech was helping a parent install a seat. They buckled the seat belt, pulled on the shoulder harness to tighten and the buckle came up out of the bite of seat. The webbing had completely detached!

Moved the seat to the outboard position. Same thing! :jaw:

Parent stated the car came from Enterprise, but "Car Facts" came back okay.

The webbing kinda looked like a Britax "rip stop" - the grey stitching was GONE. What was left was some pink/red threads or nubs.

Good News: it was an install for an unborn AND the car had LATCH (Not exactly a late model vehicle).

Suggested that parents to take it to the dealer AND report it to NHSTA on their website.

Wow!

Yea, I think, as a tech, I would've gotten the VIN myself to file a report with NHTSA. That way I know it was reported and not put off because the parent "didn't have time" But, yea, ALL belts need checked.

I got the impression that mom & dad were "on top of things" and have some confidence they will get it taken care of.
