Someone I know says they are certified through NHTSA to install carseats. Is that the same as Safekids training?

Yup. www.cpsboard.com has all the details, but I think NHTSA writes the rules and curriculum, and Safekids has the contract to administer the course and certificates (used to be AAA...).
