In swedish seats they dont follow the 1" rule? I tried to google it but came up with nothing. I know they are built different just not exactly what difference makes the be able to sit so up right and not follow the 1" rule?

My guess would be the tethering and brace system they have, less rotation downward maybe?? Thats just a guess, I have absolutely no real info on it :cool:

They tend to sit significantly more upright, as well as having a foot prop or other mechanism to prevent downward rotation, which is where the risk of the head ramping up and out of the shell would occur.

On top of that, because they essentially don't rotate downward, even if the child's head ramps up some, there's no hard stuff to hit the head on. The front seat isn't there.

They also have the benefit of testing in a test sled which is built to resemble a real car (or they can test in an actual, real car.) It has the front seats there, or the dash. They can see where the dummy goes exactly, and be sure that there won't be that downward rotation, and make sure that the dummy does not strike interior features- since all the interior features are there. So they're very, very sure that the head is not going to strike interior features.
