so my friend's mother wanted me to have the car seat/booster seat that she got for her son (he is 26) and she is going to bring is by tomorrow(she knows I am a car seat nut). I am OBVIOUSLY NOT going to use it but she peaked my interest when she told me it was a booster seat that was all foam in the front and she imported it from Europe ( she is middle eastern, European educated, and moved to the states after she graduated college and from a very wealthy middle eastern family)

anywho, I told her to bring it by and she said she would in the next few days . . . Anyone wanna take a guess what it could possibly be?? I will take pics and post them when I get it

If it was imported from the UK then it might be a "Kangaroo Cushion". They were very common around the early to mid eightes and were essentially an early version of a modern high back booster.

The seat consisted of an L-shaped polystrene block covered with foam and a thin grey-buff coloured elasticated cover with an outline image of a kangaroo on the side. I must have a photo of the one our family owned so I'll try to dig it up (if that isn't hijacking the thread of course) and post it.

post your pic!!!!, its will be interesting to see if they are the same!!! Plus I haven't seen it yet so reference to a similar seat would be fun

It might take me a while but I'll get the old photo albums down from the loft and try to find the picture(s) this weekend. As soon as I've scanned it, I'll post it.

The good news is I have found pictures, but the bad news is they are not those which I was searching for. So far the only picture of the seat I've found is from outside the car and unfortunately it isn’t very clear. The attached image called "Saab_With_Kangaroo_Cushion_1" shows the seat in the rear of our old family car. We had this car from about 1986 to 1988 (although I'm not exactly sure of the dates) so the seat is around the same age. I’ll keep looking for a better photo of the seat as I’m almost sure there is one buried somewhere.

and I would bet it is orange and black....

Surprisingly, I also found a photo of our Chrysler Alpine which we owned from somewhere around 1982 to 1986. Again, the photo ("Alpine_with_Car_Seat.jpg") isn’t the best but in the back seat can be seen our old 5 point harness car seat which isn’t too far removed from orange and black! I can’t remember what brand or model it was at all, but I do remember that it was dark blue and grey with a red harness.

I hope this is of some interest to people, in spite of the poor quality of the photos. I’ll keep searching for better ones – I’m sure we must have them somewhere.
