Travel options

I am planning for a cruise we will be going on in September. My son will be 3 years old then. He is currently 36", 30lbs and 14.5 in torso. He sits RF in a Marathon. For travel, I was looking at the Ridesafer travel vest, but even though he meets the height and weight requirement for the small, it looks like it is for booster age kids. Also, I wasn't sure if it could be used on a plane. We will be flying to FL, and then taking a limo to the port. I was trying to not have to take the Marathon, but I do not see a lot of other options. After the cruise, we will be renting a car to go to Disney, so I would probably be happier just taking his seat. I have never seen the travel vest, so was just wondering if it would be an option.

Thanks!

RideSafe vest for the car. There is a CARES harness for the plane. I can't comment on the vest for the car since I'm not familiar enough with it to give you a good answer so I'll leave that for the other folks :)

The Ride Safer Travel Vest is not just for booster age kids. It functions and tests more like a wearable 5-point harness.

You can't use it on the plane; if you want something for the plane you could look into buying, renting, or borrowing a CARES harness.

Okay thanks. Does anyone know if there is a place you can try one out, or that has them in store? I am in Roanoke, VA area so there is not a lot of option here. He is just right at 30lbs, so I want to know it will fit well before I buy one. Also, I am guessing that they are the same as carseats where you can't buy them used but just wanted to confirm.

I wouldn't buy one used unless you trust the person selling it with your child's life, same as a carseat.

I don't know that I've seen one in a store ever. Your better bet may be getting one from a store online with a good return policy.

You could also get a Cosco Scenera or Evenflo Maestro as a lightweight travel seat.
