Thanks for posting those Julie. I've bookmarked the page and dh figures I should send it to a few people we know.

I have to say I was really impressed to see the talk of rf'ing to the limits of the seat and that they're telling parents to top tether as part of the installation of a ff'ing seat. I was surprised at all the Britax they showed too - any meaning behind that?

And holy cow, that video of the infant in the infant seat installed in the front seat - the dummy is decapitated when the airbag goes off. What a powerful picture.

Do many parents look at the IIHS site? Would be great if the info reaches a lot of parents.

The rear facing one is great.
It addresses extended rear-facing and the bent leg thingy!
I love the fact that each section points out how the sections before it should be used until they are outgrown.

ETA: It said in the booster section, "If your car doesn't have lap shoulder belts, and your only choice is to use a lap belt, you should still use a booster seat". ? Other than the laptop ( and wasn't a booster), which isn't in production and the shield boosters (which were deadly), what "boosters" would one be able to use?

I'm just almost in pain reading that, I'm so confused... If they have crash tests, they need to show them to us...I think I'll bring it up on CPSPList and see if they have anything to say? The 'theory' would be that the lapbelt would not cut into the abdomen, but would ride low on the hips and it would prevent seatbelt syndrome. But in reality, from what I've understood for awhile now, the excess height of a booster and lapbelt causes greater risk of HEAD injury, so you shouldn't use them (aside from it going against the manual, of course). All things considered, I think you'd rather risk abdominal than head injury, so I'm just not even sure what to think of them saying this! :(
