Question Putting carseat in 2011 Sienna 2nd row middle position.

I was cleaning out my van and thinking ahead to a trip next month with my sister and niece, trying to decide how to seat everyone comfortably. My DD rides FF in an xtsl and my DS rides RF in an 80SL. I tried installing one of the seats RF in the 2nd row middle position and I got it installed with seat belt rock solid. The whole base of the carseat does fit securely on the seat.

So I called Toyota to see if it is permissable to install a seat in that position since the manual does not mention it. The lady said she would have to refer me to carseat safety and gave me this website and said I should check with my local fire department and police station.

They built the vehicle! Shouldn't they know?? So does anyone on here know?

Yes, umm, they don't know at the retailer. sad.

From what I have gathered in the car safety area, IF you can get a good install with the seatbelt rear facing, you should be fine, even though we can't get a good response on whether a car seat is allowed to be installed on that seat. It has been a run around.

I would not use a forward facing seat there, as there is no top tether.

That is as much as I can tell you.

Very sad! I tried it FF out of curiosity and it doesn't sit all the way back against the back of the seat because of the armrests so it wouldn't fit there anyways.

Thanks for the info!
