Got my 86Y!

So excited. My boyfriend is going to help me install the top tether this weekend or early next week so S can use it in the middle and allow a seat to be installed outboard for R and a booster on the other side for Z. However, I am so excited at how fast it got here that I will most likely make Z use it tomorrow (with a booster).

Now, one question... the chestclip. It looks like it is going to be way too low with the way the straps lie. Is it ok to be lower than armpit level with this?

The chest clip is optional on the 86Y, actually. It also works "backwards" because the V at the top of the straps keeps them on the shoulders; the "chest" clip helps hold the lower portions together so they don't slide to the sides. I found it to be mostly just in the way regardless of the size of the kid I was using it with, and removed it.

Ooh, ok, good to know about the chest clip. The instructions that come with it aren't very clear.

S will be fine without a booster in it. She still has about an inch or so left to grow when seated on just the vehicle seat. No idea what I will do for next summer when she is only 11 but will probably be about 5'5 or 6"!

We only used the 86Y harness for a very short period of time (we replaced it with a 103Z Model vest and a 203 Model vest). When we used it the chest clip sat about mid-rib cage level, somewhat below armpit level. As it is optional however, I guess it is a matter of preference.

I hope the installation of the tether anchors goes well.

Gary.
