Ford F250

What year did they get shoulder/lap belts center back seat? (if they do)

My son has a 2005 F250 with center lap belt. 10 yr old granddaughter has to use an RSTV in the center when two older siblings are in the vehicle. She HATES it. I can foresee all kinds of problems with this as time goes by.

I'd like to encourage him to get another vehicle but I know that would be hard financially. I'd like to know what to tell him to look for if I can get him to try for an upgraded truck.

I want to say that there was a new regulation requiring lap-shoulder belts in backseat positions in 2008? Or something?

But I might be making that up, and I don't know if there is an exemption for heavy-duty trucks.

We looked at an F350 last year (2010 model year) and I'm nearly certain it had a shoulder belt in the center. No headrest though.

I also believe it was in 2008 that center shoulder/lap belts were put in place. We have a 2008 F350 which has the center S/L belt but no headrest in that position.

Yes, l/s belts for all seating positions were required for MY 2008. I don't know of a specific date (like Sept 1, 2001 for LATCH...), just the model year.
