Alternative to using infant car seat shade

For the next baby I have a Snugride 35 I will be using but I hate the infant car seat shade. I had a safeseat with DD and I also though the shade got in the way when you were trying to carry the car seat with it up and it sometimes get caught, etc. Is it necessary to use the shade? I really do not remember how often I used the shade with DD. Just looking for possible alternatives if there are any. Thanks!

I took the shade off DS's seat because it was just too much with the shower cap cover for the winter. I haven't gotten around to putting it back on. He doesn't seem to mind, so I don't really see a need.

It's not required. I never used an infant seat. If your child is in the middle then no worries. If out and about use a hat or sunglasses. In the car you can use the static cling tinters.

I had the shade off of DD's seat as well. I had a shower cap style cover on her seat and it got in the way.

we only used the sun shade last summer. once the shower cap cover went on the shade came off.

I only used the shade in the summer when i KNEW the babies seat would be sitting directly in the sun (eg we were driving N in the late afternoon and the baby was on the outboard drivers side)..... i kept the sun shade in the compartment on the back of the drivers seat and would snap it on really quickly if i felt it was needed for an extended car trip. Otherwise it was left off.... it just got in the way more than anything
