Stupid SL...it's loosening in my car too.

I checked DSs seat before I put him in it at daycare tonight and it was way loose. I'm so pissed. Now I need to search old threads for all of the info and recommended steps to take. Gah. How frustrating.

Call/email Susan at SKJP, file a NHTSA report online (include serial numbers of both the seat and the latch belt). Is it less than a year old? Did you buy from Diapers.com or Amazon? They have 365 day return policies so you might be able to get a refund.

I bought it from Amazon in February to replace our RN after an accident. It is installed with the seatbelt now. Its just frustrating because it is a much quicker and more upright install in my car with latch. I am just glad that I check it everytime I put DS in it. I retightened it with latch and gently put pressure on it with one finger and it loosened right up. I really do like the seat, but I think I will put a different one in for him for now.

Amazon will take it back...still call SKJP and file the NHTSA report, but if you want your money back to buy something else, they will refund you since it's defective and within the 365 days.

Stelvis, my latch strap doesn't look like the ones in your videos. I have only had a little time this morning to search old threads, so it's very possible that I just haven't found this info. But mine is black. Was that just a change based on DOM of the seat. I bought mine in Feb, but I will have to check the DOM in a bit. And I guess I will look for the little retainer clip too.

Yes, black and red are the same except for the color. Newer ones are black but both have had problems. It's the same mechanism and that's why it fails.
