Question Just bought a carseat - DOM 2008 - should I be upset?

I was in the market for a Chicco Keyfit carseat but was having a lot of trouble finding any in stock. Most of the websites were saying that the seat was backordered until August 2011. I was delighted when I found one in stock at a local store. I made the purchase online and picked up the seat locally.

When I got it home, I noticed the date of manufacture was 2008. This bothers me as it means that half the life of the car seat is now gone. In reality, this shouldn't be a problem for us as this is our last baby, but it seems unethical to be selling carseats this old.

Do you think this is worth a complaint to the store?

What were you planning to do with the seat when you were done with it? Would you have sold it, given it away, or lent it to someone? If so, then you have lost some of the use of the seat. If you were just going to trash/recycle it, then you haven't really lost anything.

unless you got a really big discount, I'd be upset. However, how important to you is have the keyfit before August? The store may just tell you to return it for a refund.

I would if I spent full price on it. And full price in Canada for that is about $300 plus taxes, right? But if you have it on sale and don't really have any plan to use it again and the price reflecting the discount of say 3 yrs out of the 6 yrs of usage before expiration, then it would be ok, imo.

If I paid full price then yes, I'd be upset.

If I paid sale price then I'd be fine with it.

For a while tjs kids and tummies to tots online stores had the '08 adventure pattern KF on sale for $169 free shipping. The sale ended about two weeks ago.

Where did you buy your seat?
