Lightweight Stroller help...

So, I have DD1 5yo 38lbs, wants to ride when it's inconvenient for me, and DD2 1yo 20-ish lbs, tolerates riding when entertained. Currently we have a Quinny Buzz, I love it for DD2 she can face me and I can keep her entertained while shopping before she goes ballistic. We use it mainly for shopping, zoo, etc. I find it a bit cumbersome (size/weight wise) and sometimes too wide for stores. I have listed it on CL and ASSuming it sells...what do I buy???

I've been looking and I'm overwhelmed and confused! I guess my budget will be about $200??

With oldest that big, I'd prolly go with a Maclaren. Quest Sport I think for the recline. No need to go full featured like a Techno or Zippy or anything. Quest should be good enough for the 1 yr old and can handle the 5 yr old when she demands to get in.

I am confused with your initial post. Are you hoping to have a spot for both kids or just one.

I agree with Codex that a Mac would be a good bet for one child or for two. I'd probably think about a wagon for the times you need to accomodate both since a double stroller will be more expensive and I imagine the frequency of needing a double will be limited based on the age of your children.

I love my Cybex... I gave my Mac Quest for my sister and got a Cybex Topaz for DD. DD still takes naps for 2-3 hours a day and this stroller has been a life saver. The wheels are a lot bigger and I believe work on rocks better. The seat back is bigger and allows for a tad bit more of a recline than my quest. The sunshade is a lot better and the stroller does not get tipsy when I place my purse/diaper bag on the handles like it did in the Quest. It also comes with a raincover. I would opt for the Cybex as I can still fit DD in it and my very tall 4 year old niece in it with no problems.

Cybex is nice, but then you're getting into a bigger stroller.

It's all in increments, depending just how much size you're willing to take on in order to get more features.

I mean, my favorite stroller is the Inglesina Zippy followed closely by the Baby Jogger City Mini. At the weight of the bigger Cybex's like the Topaz, you're in the same ballpark as those strollers which I think are better. Which is why I never recommend the Maclaren Techno. At it's weight and feature class, which is in the same range as the Cybex Topaz, you're playing in the Zippy and City Mini playground and I think they offer a lot more stroller.

So, if you want less bulk, you have to drop down to the Quest or Techno in order for me to feel it's worth the difference. The Quest has recline, but in steps and I don't think it's full recline. No full sunshade or suspension in the wheels. However, it's LIGHT and quite compact. For smaller trunks or travel, that might be worth giving up all the bells and whistles.

Plus, unlike pretty much every other company, Maclaren's stroller weight limit is 55 lbs. Most are around 45 or less.

Okay so I'm trying to decide between the Maclaren Triumph $100, Maclaren Quest $150, or Cybex Onyx $150 or $190 for the 2011 with super hood.

What differences are there between the triumph and quest? It seems that the Onyx has a taller seat back than the quest, but is also couple pounds heavier. And I like the harness adjustment on the Onyx, since stroller harnesses are so friggin' hard to adjust, with such a huge size difference in kids it has to be adjusted between them. But if I go with the Onyx I have to decide if I'm paying more for the new model with the awesome hood...

Can somebody use their magic ball to make this decision??!?!?!?!?

The triumph and quest are virtually the same except:
Quest has
*a canopy with a (useless due to it's placement IMO) peek-a-boo window and pocket on the back
*a bar recline rather than a strap recline (possibly slightly deeper recline - though Maclaren says it's the same)
*an adjustable legrest
*weighs slightly more

Honestly, if your youngest is 1, I would go with the triumph - I find the quest features to only be necessary for younger babies.
The triumph has great resale value and they hold up well over time. Push is also great. The canopy is not great
I have never used the cybexes, however I would probably opt for the super canopy.
You can also check out the uppababy g-luxe, though that will be more pricey... (though for a 1 year old, the g-lite would be good as well)

HTH!
