Originally I got my SSK Monterey (red) from Diapers.com. I got an awesome price on it, BUT the DOM was 14 months old when I got it. We decided to keep it because it still worked out to be a good deal. Then the side wings started popping out. I contacted SSK about my Monterey's side wings expanding after we have only been using it a couple of months. They told me to take a pic of the serial number, send it to them, and they would replace the back for me. A few weeks ago they said it had shipped, and once I got the seat back, they would send me a shipping label to send the old back to them.
Well today I get home from getting ds from school, and they have sent us a whole new seat!!! BUT it's in Shadow instead of Red. DS is upset, because he LOVED the red seat (it was his first seat he got to choose) and he's not crazy about Shadow (I am not either honestly). The really great thing is, the DOM on this seat is 3/2011!! So now I will be able to get the full use out of this seat before it expires. I haven't gotten a return shipping label yet, so we will see what happens there. I just hope the back doesn't expand so easily on this one.
