Guess this is what they meant by "tough choices" in tech class

Currently I have CJ and KG in center positions in my Suburban untethered because I have no other option. I really, really, really don't like those particular seats untethered, but I feel like I have no other options.

KG is about to outgrow the MA by height. I have no clue what I'm going to do then.

I have to have those two harnessed because those seats have lap belts and no headrests. Radian's aren't compatible. I can sort of put KG in a FR85 in the center but the red clip that holds the cover on catches when I slide the seat forward and I'm afraid it's going to break it. She can ride in a GN there as well, but she can't sleep in it due to head slump.

Gabe finally 5 steps in the 3rd row so at least I don't have to fit a booster for him anymore. But really the only way to make the 3rd row work is with the MA so the bigger kids fit next to the base and under the bulk of the seat.

Anyone have any ideas? Kids are in my siggy in their respective seats. Gabe only rides in the booster in the 2nd row and other vehicles he doesn't 5 step in.

I also have available 2 RNs I'm trying to sell, a FR85, and a GN. Their dad has my other FR85 for now but I can trade him a MA back for it.

99. No headrests, no shoulder belts, no tethers in the center

I'd love to go truck shopping but as an unemployed single mom, that ain't happening. ;)

Is it possible to get tethers installed?

If not -- Trenton in the front seat, K in a Radian/GN/Frontier where he sits?

*maybe* try a CA for K? Taller than the Marathon IIRC, (double-check that though), but still a temporary solution.

No to installing tethers. I've tried for months.

I can rearrange with 2 kids in 3rd row and 3 center with trenton up front usually, but right now my 17 year old cousin is staying with us so I need the front seat for her.

How big is Trenton? I'm thinking you may have to put him in the front passenger seat. Then put K in the FR 3rd row either side and with Gabe on the other side (so the middle 3rd row seat won't be in use). Keep your other little one where they are in the middle of the 2nd row with your 6 and 12 yo's on either side of him.

ETA: Just saw your post about your 17yo cousin. I guess it's back to the drawing board. :(

How much does KG sleep in the car? (My kids aren't car sleepers, really, so I'm not sure how important the ability for her to sleep in the car is). Maybe the Nautilus is the best bet, even if she can't really sleep that well in it? But maybe it could work for awhile?

I think I would use the Nauti and just deal with the head slump. Who ever sits next to her can help put her head back in position when it slumps.

Yep. I'd just let the head slump happen. Either she'll learn to ignore it/work around it, or she won't; it seems like the best option for everyone to be safe.

How narrow is KG in the shoulders? What about a Como, or maybe a ProRide (not sure how tall the top harness slots are,) if you could find one on swap, in exchange for a Radian?

I know we hardly *ever* recommend them, but they have that tall-on-a-base thing going on that you need back there, and although she won't last forever in it, if it could get you another year or so before you have to move T to the front it might be worth it.

I'm so dang frustrated for you that you can't get a HDTA installed, your situation is so perfect for the RSTV or 86Y. Sigh. :(

What about a Nauti elite?

I could try a nauti elite, but we've had such bad head slump in the regular one that I hesitate to try it. Besides, I can't buy anything new until I sell the RNs.

I'll use the regular one when she outgrows the MA I guess. She's narrow enough that the MA doesn't bother her but not super narrow.
