Question New Gen Britax bases shorter?

I'm kind of obsessed with the stats of all the seats we've been looking at lately, but even moreso with the ones I can't see IRL. So, I was wondering- Are the new bases shorter so the seats don't so so high up? I thought I read that somewhere, but I can't find it now.

I have a bunch of side by side pics I can post for you. Let me go scrounge them up and I'll come back and post them. ;)

I don't think the bases are shorter per se in the new gen seats. In the new gen seats, your child's bottom seems to sit much deeper in the seat though. The way the seats sit on top of the bases is pretty different.

Here they are (RA 50 and RA 55), most upright position:

(Ignore the disgruntled baby. ;))

Any other questions? I actually prefer the old gen for my car. With the new gen, I kept smacking my son's head on the door frame because the sides are so deep in the RA 55 and I had to lift him so high and over to get him in. I have yet to smack his head now that he's riding in an old gen RA.

Thanks so much! I just think its so interesting to compare all the different seats, but I'm especially liking looking at different seats within a manufacturer's lineup. I so wish I had a huge baby store nearby. Thanks again!

Guess what I saw today? A MA70! :) I really liked it. DD said it squished her neck and tummy, though. :-( I took the pads off, thinking that was the issue, but she still didn't like it. She had 3" to the top harness position (the seat wasn't installed).
