I wish there were car seats/HBB that had Side impact protection designed into the OUTSIDE of the seat, so that someone could put two of those outboard, and feel comfortable putting a kid in a backless booster between them (where a HBB likely wouldn't fit. I'm not talking Britax SICT, that's not exactly what I have in mind, but it's a good start!

Just sayin, that would be kinda cool.

Curious what you had in mind?
I bought the Britax SICT for outboard. Not that SICT is perfect but given the choices, well, that's what I chose of all the brands. (And I like the RF tether option).

We will likely be at a point where we stick a kid in a Bubble Bum between two carseats with good side impact protection, way down the road...

Not my first choice to have an inflatable thing but that might be the only way to fit at some point! But new stuff will come out.

What you are describing that you see as a future need is what I'm referring to. An older child sitting in the middle of two seats (or HBB) I imagine there could be some head inuries in a crash, you know? So I was thinking it'd be cool if car seats were designed to also be safe for passengers who sit next to them. The SICT idea is a pretty good start, I think, but I'd love to see that grow.
