Question First Years True Fit C670 Cover / Dimensions?

My first baby is arriving in October in Minnesota (i.e. really really cold!)

After reading the great reviews and safety ratings, we're going with the First Years True Fit C670, available here: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/First-Years-Premier-Convertible-Black/dp/B002WN20GA/ref=br_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2H0CTPI25GYJZ&colid=3EZ5K8NL3DGSP"]Amazon.com: The First Years True Fit C670 Premier Convertible Car Seat, Geo Black: Baby[/ame]

I really wanted to get a "cover" like this for the car seat (as opposed to a bunting or snow suit which I understand interfere with car seat safety.) [ame="http://www.amazon.com/JJ-Cole-Seat-Cover-Khaki/dp/accessories/B003ZUXQXU"]Amazon.com: JJ Cole Car Seat Cover, Khaki: Baby[/ame]

So two questions:

1. Where can I buy something like this that's large enough for my convertible seat?

OR

2. What are the dimensions of the "rim" of the car seat, so I could sew my own car seat cover?

Those types of covers are great for an infant seat when you are going from the house to the car etc. They aren't really necessary for a convertible seat as it stays in the vehicle. With your baby coming home as a new born in a colder climate I would encourage you to use an infant seat. It might be a bit more convenient to get the baby all strapped in and bundled in their seat before going out in the cold to get to the vehicle. There is nothing wring with using a convertible seat from birth, for me it's really about convenience and time of year in your case.

I would suggest just tucking a blanket around the baby after the straps are done up and maybe getting a fleece type snowsuit. I'm in a hurry but I will post some pictures later when I have time, unless someone else knows what I'm talking about and can post some links :D.

I would totally use an infant seat for a MN newborn. Pop them in the seat in the house where it's nice and warm. Add a hat, a fleece receiving blanket folded in 4 and tucked around, then put on the cover and baby has never come out cold in my experience - lots of MN babies!

Please don't buy your baby a snow suit or any after market products to use with your car seat that did not come in the box with it. These are mostly not safe and not recommended.

There is a company that has a cover for a bigger seat. I can't link on this computer. Google the Nuzzler II. That's what it is called. Can't think of the name of the company - polar fleece something.

I would get a convertible for a winter baby in Minnesota. Its cold there. Much easier to buckle baby up and just plop into the base.

I would look at the aton, snugride35, onboard35 or keyfit30.
