Question 86-Y, when do you need the heavy duty tether anchor?

If this is in the wrong place feel free to move it, I wasn't sure where it should go.

I'm considering a 86-Y for the 3rd row center of my '05 Yukon XL and wondered how long I could use the factory installed tether anchor and when it would have to be switched to the heavy duty one. It would be used with a HBB for a child weighing under 60 lbs.

How long you can use the factory installed tether anchors depends on the maximum weight limit rating. I believe this varies from manufacturer to manufacturer so I would consult the vehicle owner's manual to find out. Once you know the rating of the anchors in your vehicle you will be able to decide whether or not you will need to install the E-Z-On heavy duty anchors. There may be some other advice that the experts here can provide but I would definately begin with the manual.

In repsonse to the second question, we live in the UK and purchased two E-Z-On vests, two mounts and the necessary hardware from www.midwestbusparts.com. The customer service was excellent and the items arrived very quickly.

They definately sell the 86Y harness:

I installed the E-Z-On heavy duty anchors fairly recently and I have photos and notes from the process so if that is of any help, let me know. I can post them here or email them to you.

I hope that helps,

Gary.
