Radian LATCH question

I haven't been on here for a while...so imagine my surprise when I saw all this stuff re: the Super Latch straps failing! Is the Super Latch different from the regular LATCH? My understanding was that the Super Latch strap was for use past 48 lbs. I have a XTSL that we installed RF with LATCH. We will not be using LATCH past 40 lbs. as that is the limit in our Honda CR-V. Do I have a problem? I am a little bit freaked out. Thanks!

Do you have a problem? You'd be the one to notice it. Is it getting loose? That's the issue, that the LATCH strap is getting loose and the seat isn't installed properly.

If your car was made after September 1, 2005, you have the option, according to Sunshine Kids, of using the LATCH to 80 pounds. That's the point of the SL. If your car was made before that, then no, you must stop at 40 pounds.

I have an RDX which is basically a CRV, and I have this issue. If you have an XTSL, you have the Superlatch strap. In my car it appears to be tight at the belt path, but the tilt-lock can be loosened with a finger or a toddler's foot quite easily. The new modified strap they sent me did not fix it. So you would check to see if it's quite easy to push down on the tilt-lock adjuster. It should be very difficult, if not you have the problem.

Thanks for the replies. My husband and I both tried to get the tilt/lock (?) loose on the SL strap and couldn't. It was installed over a year ago and we haven't done anything to it, so it seems to be holding steady. Thanks!

Sounds fine then. Just check it carefully if you install in a new car as it can happen in one car and not another.
