My nephew has lost his ability to sit up (r/t to cancer in his spine ) he may come home in a wk or 2. I do not know his exact heightt or torso, but do know he is 54 pds (may fluctuate related to his steroids but he is not eating anything now) and is approx 51in tall (guessing based on my dd's height)

Is there any seat that he can harness in? or any ideas for him? I told his mom I'd find some answers (would a regent work-I saw one here for sale) I thought maybe a frontier 85?
Thanks!

The Frontier 85 is the tallest harnessed seat available, with top slots equivalent to the Regent. Beyond that, if he needs taller top slots or additional support, you're looking at a Special Needs seat.

Ok that's what I thought. thank you! Any reason to get a frontier 85 vs a regent? (other than cup holders? and I would buy used only on this forum for them)

The F85 converts to a booster, and the Regent does not. The Regent is wider. A post-advisory Regent requires certain belt paths for installation (long belt path vs short belt path) based on child's weight. The F85 can use long belt path or short belt path for any weight, so it gives more installation options. The F85 may be more supportive in general and specifically for the head due to the different shape.

I see in your siggy that you have a Frontier that is close to being outgrown. Is that a F85 or original, 80 pound Frontier? You could consider passing the Frontier you already have to your nephew and getting a dedicated booster for your DD1.

Pixels-I have the original so even my dd is close to outgrowing or I'd def put dd in a booster and let them have it. I'm guessing the frontier would be better, didn't think about the head support.
I haven't seen him the past wk so not sure about his head control right now. When I see him he is lying flat r/t spinal tap chemo and radiation. Poor kid!
told mom I'd figure this out for her. Thanks guys for the info!

Can you try your Frontier & Nauti with him to see how he fits? That will give you a better idea how to move forward.

If he's going to need a SN seats, see if there are special needs techs or a special needs fitting station near him. Some SN techs "do car seats" as part of their job as nurses or therapists at children's hospitals and rehab clinics. These folks would also be the most likely to have ready access to SN seats.

Durable medical equipment distributors would also be a place to start asking at seats.

If he has head control, the RSTV should give him adequate support, if they have tethers available. Or an 86-Y with a supportive high back booster.
