EXACTLY 40 pounds-do I need to take the safe-stop off?

The Radian has a safe stop attachment thing for "forward facing installations under 40 pounds". Apparently DD has gained 3 pounds since March because she was exactly 40 pounds even w/ her clothes and shoes on today at the doctor. Do I remove the safe stop now or wait until she's 41 pounds?

I feel stupid.

I don't have any experience with radians but if it says under 40 lbs, I would take it off now since she is now longer under 40 lbs.

It's better to have the SafeStop on at 41 pounds than to have it off at 39 pounds. Because weight can fluctuate, I'd leave it on for a little longer.

Like I said before, no experience with Radians, but I was just wondering. Is it optional after 40 lbs?

Everyone makes a big to do about not being an ounce over any weight limit, so it seems logical that if it is not allowed after 40 that you would want it off as soon as you brush 40.

The instructions say, "Always use the safe stop when using LATCH or the top tether with forward-facing child under 40 pounds. Do not use safe stop with any other installation configuration."

I heard that it used to be recommended to 48#, in which case using it up to and including 40# does make sense. But the phrasing (unless it is different in other manuals) technically would indicate that at 40# exactly, you would not use the Safe Stop since it's not *under* 40 pounds.

So at that point using it *at* 40 lbs would be considered parental discretion?

I think *I* would take it off for fear of it failing over 40 lbs since it is worded that way. Plus I would feel like I had to weigh her daily and even then wonder if my scale is accurate enough.
