My wife is expecting in june and we were wondering if we should get rid of our sebring. i am having a tough time finding any info relating to child transportation and convertibles. can anyone offer any insight?

Most vehicles are safe for children who are seated in a child seat with a 5-point harness. Just make sure the child is in the harness correctly and the child seat is installed properly in the back seat.
That said, you may find the convertible to be more difficult to load and unload the child. That is also true with smaller coupes and pickups that have small rear seats and only 2 doors. This can be a real chore for kids in convertible seats who are rear-facing, which is the safest way for young kids to travel ( http://www.car-safety.org/rearface.html ). Some convertibles lack seatbelts in the center of the rear seat, which is a bit safer than outboard spots.
