Question Britax Boulevard Rear Facing Tether in Ford Expedition 2007

hi,
I have a Ford Expedition 2007 with 2nd row captain chairs(bucket seats). I just purchased Britax Boulevard 70 for my twins. We are still using them rear facing anchor locks but also read where it is recommended to tether them. There isnt a tether anchor on the floor between the passenger seat and the 2nd row seat. The only anchor we see is on the back of the 2nd seat. When we tether it this way the straps are in a "V" shape and it seems it would be really hard getting the kids in and out. It also pulls the car seat up a litte. I took it to our local fire station and they said that with rear facing you dont have to use tether. What are your recommendations? and how would I tether it?

Thanks

You are not required to use the top tether while rearfacing, but since it is one of the features you paid for on the seat, then I would use it. The method you used was the Australian method. Britax also allows the Swedish method, which is what I use. There should be a page in the owners manual that shows you how to do this. Basically, you are going to create your own anchor. The seats should have come with a d-ring, which is a piece of webbing attached to a metal ring. One end will have a loop in the webbing. You will loop this piece of webbing around something attached to the frame of the vehicle. In my Ford Escape, I use the front seat track.

FYI,

We also have a Britax Boulevard. We used the top tether, but with our 2007 Expedition and power seats, the loop wouldn't go around the track. I took the plastic cover off the front of the second row seats where they attache to the floor and used one of the bolts there to attach the D-ring and then hooked the tether to it.

Also, when you change them to front facing, you might need to remove the headrests since the Britax seats are so tall. There's a spring clip in there, they don't just pull out. See:
