so it was just brought to my attention that my ODS will be able to go on field trips at his daycare next year. Yes it's a year away, but i'm already thinking about it. lol.

They go to the nursing homes to sing to the eldery, grocery store, post office, etc etc... anyway they have a 15 passenger van for this. Town population of 2200 give or take a hundred. No stop lights in our town, evey place they go is within about 6-8 blocks. Small town. What seat would you allow him to ride in? Most of the other kids his age will or are traveling in a hbb already... not sure how I feel about it. He would only be 3-3.5 at this time. The trips would be 1-2x a month. Ideas?

I wouldn't allow a booster, he's still young and that's a lot of distraction for a 3yo. I'd check what kind of harnessed seats they have, I would imagine there are quite a few lap belt only spots in the van that would need to have a harnessed seat installed. But, make sure he fits in the seats they have or insist on bringing your own. And talk to them about harness tightness also, and make sure your DS knows how tight he should be.

They don't provide seats I don't think. Last time I saw a bunch of car seats in the office they were Sceneras. Is there a quick harnessed seat, easy in easy out I could put in myself? I really don't want to move his Frontier in and out all the time.

(This is only tangentially related, but I'm surprised they drive at all. I remember preschool field trips; nature walks, singing at the nursing home, etc., and if it was within 8 blocks, long, city blocks, we walked it!)

The preschool I was going to send my son to requested a booster seat for those 3 and up for field trips. I found out most of the seats were lap belt only and kids buckled themselves. I was going to make arrangements so that I could personally take my son on the field trips and then we decided to wait until he is four before we send him off to school so I have another year to worry about it. I would definitely go with a harnessed seat.
