I really like this publication about carseat usage. I want to pass it along to friends, but there are few things in it that I don't like.
Page 3:
Great!
Infants/Toddlers
All infants and toddlers should ride in a Rear-Facing Car Safety Seat
until they are 2 years of age or until they reach the highest weight or
height allowed by their car safety seat’s manufacturer.
Why did they make it sound like if they are over 2, they need to be ff?
Toddlers/Preschoolers
ll children 2 years or older, or those younger than 2 years who have
outgrown the rear-facing weight or height limit for their car safety
seat, should use a Forward-Facing Car Safety Seat with a harness for
as long as possible, up to the highest weight or height allowed by their
car safety seat’s manufacturer.
Page 7: Picture of a child who outgrew an infant seat. Instead of saying the child should be moved to a rearfacing convertible, it says he should be moved to a ff seat.
Then on Page 8, they say this:
a convertible seat can be used as a replacement when the
child outgrows the height and weight recommendations of
an infant seat, but still needs to ride rear-facing. IT IS BEST
FOR CHILDREN TO RIDE REAR -FACING UP TO 2 YEARS OF AGE OR TO THE
HIGHEST WEIGHT AND HEIGHT
So, why the discrepancy with the picture?
I guess I should still pass it along, because most of it is great.
