For starters, we have a 2008 Honda Ody and have a big trip coming soon. We will be travelling 8 hours in one day. He will be celebrating his 4th birthday over the trip and will be forward facing.
My plan was to put him in the Radian XT. But - I just moved his harness up to the next slot. On the XT, the top slot brings the harnesses really close together due to the headwings. In our 10 minute ride to the store, his neck was red. I am concerned about him moaning and groaning about this problem during the ride. We have strap covers, but the straps are pretty high up above his neck and I don't think they will sit right to make a difference.
He was literally exactly at the harness height before me moving them. If he fully sat up, he was above. If he slouched, they were below. Maybe I should've left them?
Alternative B would be to use a regular Radian without headwings. I don't believe the straps come in as much, so hopefully less irritation. But, I'd prefer the headwings for a long trip where he is outboard. We have no tether anchor in our middle seat.
