my first experience with Nautilus head slump

so my daughter never falls asleep in the car anymore . . . yesterday was my dad's birthday and we drove the 1hr drive up to his house in the mountains and stayed until almost midnight, obviously when we left she fell asleep almost immediatly lol I have the seat in the "recline" position and to be honest looking at the way it installs in my sister's car you would not think that head slump would even be possible . . . . . yeah right lol its those dang wings, they seriously pushed her head down. Poor little girl was asleep the entire time and she was just bobbing her head up and up over and over again, she was soooo uncomfortable :( so much for my theory on "it can't be that bad, it prob only bothers us, not them" . . .
this of course is not a big issue in the grand scheme of things since she rarely falls asleep in the car but this summer when we travel alot, this seat will def need to be replaced with something else :( I guess this is what I get for going the cheap route when I can afford a Frontier lol

I was in the same boat with our Nautilus. My ds rarely sleeps in the car anymore, but on longer drives he sometimes will and the head slump was awful. We were getting ready to make a 12 hour drive and I just couldn't bear the thought of him having to sleep with such terrible head slump, so I bought the Frontier. He's slept several times in it with NO head slump whatsoever. Much better fit for him!

It's a bummer because the Nautilus was a great seat in every other way. We do really love our Frontier now though!

FWIW, we get head slump in the FR85 too. It's my darn vehicle seats...or actually the vehicle head rest that makes it more upright.

I tried to prop her head of with a blanket we had in the back seat . . . not even a little luck lol the seats in the saturn vue are not straight up or anything, it actually has a nice looking recline . .. its those dang wings, I don't even think that is is the actuall head rest because if her head stayed center then no problem but she leans her head to the side and as soon as she would do that it pushed her head forward... she has a tiny bit of room left in the roundabout 50 so hopefully she will still fit for all my trips this summer, I just would rather have her in the nautilus than the britax for FFing due to the head excursion?? numbers (pretty sure I spelled that wrong) lol
