Best convertible seat for grandparents?

I'm looking for a seat to purchase for the inlaws in Florida. We visit several times a year. My son is 9 months, so we will rear face him as long as possible, but I'd like something that would be able to face forward as well, and ideal that he won't grow out of too quickly. We don't go there all that much, but would love to leave something there so that we don't have to fly with a seat.

FWIW, grandparents have a Hyundai Sonata.

To what age would a Cosco Scenera work? I have no concept of what 40 pounds means in terms of kid age.

Any other good options?

i think the scenera would be ok, my DS who is 3.5 still fits both FF and RF in the original and 40rf...the 40RF cant use the top slot RF i believe but hes on the second to last RF. my 5 year old outgrew it by weight at barely 3..but she was 90th percentile at 18m :) DS is only 20th i think at that age.

if u can swing it i would maybe get a true fit so no surprises when u get there haha

What will you use on the airplane? A nine month old won't fit in the seatbelt, and it's not safe for him or people around him to have an unrestrained baby on board. The FAA recommends a carseat to 40 pounds.

I'd get a Scenera and travel with it.
