RA with old base questions

I just got my RA(thanks, Michelle!) and it has the old base. I put it rf in my car(that is funny looking because it has no cover. My pink one is on it's way), which is an 01 Escape. Even reclined and tethered, it is really upright. I am using it for a 6mth old and she still needs it reclined quite a bit. This RA is REALLY upright. How tight can I crank the tether down before it's too tight? I should know this, being a tech and all, but I have installed a new RA and it was upright, but not quite like this and the tether fixed it. Britax says no pool noodles, correct?

I will take a pic this evening.

P.S. Is it weird to love a car seat this much? :)

Old base, as in blue base? The blue base ones are all expired by now, or pretty darn close.
You can use a noodle, or the tether. Crank it until it is where you want it, provided it's not crazy tight to the point of breaking.

With my Britax Advantage (pre RA), I recline the seats back and then really shove the base into the seat bite trying to recline it as much as I can.

As far as the RF'ing tether. I tighten it pretty tight, but not so much that I feel like I am going to break the base off. If you are going for a 30 degree recline then you shouldn't have to tight that rf tether that much.

Oh, and I LOVE my RA. I am dreading the day I have to destroy it. We may just have to have a small funeral for it LOL!

Nope, not a blue base. The shell is more like a grayish cream color. It is a Jan. 2003 DOM, so I have a little while to use it.
I will have to take my niece for a ride and see if she tolerates sitting that upright. I love this seat. I like my Scenera, but I LOVE my Britax! It's my first one!

Thanks!
