What forums are publicly searchable?

i was just wondering, are all the forums within car-seat.org publicly google searchable, or only some of them? i know that if i google certain terms, i come up with forum topics here. but what about coffee break and the subforum, senior community private chat? are those google searchable? i want to post some pics but do NOT want them to be google cached.

TIA!

I don't think you can google into these. Also if you want to post picks you can always have a moderator remove them later on

right, i can also host them on my own server (like i do most of my pics), linking to them in my posts, and then remove them myself later, but once the google search bots crawl through the forum and copy pics/text into google's cache, that's it... they can be there forever. :( that's why i want to know if the google bots are allowed access to the senior community chat forum.

Theoretically, the Senior Community Member forum and Carseat Swap forum are not even visible to Google or anyone not registered so they should not be archived. I've never actually checked though and those Google people are pretty clever...

i want to post some family pics in there but i am fiercely anti-search bot! ;) i will probably go ahead and just have them there for a few days...

The edit feature will disappear in the same time, but there should be a delete option somewhere as it is enabled in those two forums.

I know people have deleted their own messages, perhaps someone can say where to find the option. My interface is probably different so I don't know for sure.

AFAIK, the delete option is only found under the "edit" button. If the edit button disappears, I don't know how you would delete that post. However, you could PM a mod, and they can do it for you.

ok I found the delete function, but I think it dissapears once the edit button does... so youd have to be quick to delete it once youve posted it...

Ive got a test thread going to see when it dissapears on me. It hasnt disappeared after a reply was made, so will see if it disappears when the edit does and report back.
Can you change the length of edit in a specific forum as opposed to the whole site? if you can then lengthening the length of the edit in just those 2 forums would benefit users. In the swap it would allow them to edit out/in new info or that the item is now sold.

If you have full control over your server you can place a robots.txt in the root directory. That's a plain text file in which you can tell the google spider and other robots what to index and what not to. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robots_Exclusion_Standard

There does not appear to be a standard option to allow users to delete posts after the "edit" time limit is expired. I didn't realize one was dependent on the other. So for now, I have removed the limit for editing posts, though the "edited by" tagline will remain if you edit after 15 minutes of the original posting.
