I was in a rear end crash last week and I was injured (nothing major or hospital worthy) but car seats had to be replaced.
My insurance sent out an adjuster to look over the damage and pay me to get it fixed. I explain about the car seats, so him how some of the foaming had crack, and tell him I replaced the seats here is the reciepts. He say "no problem, we will pay you for the seats but if I were you Id use those seats" :-0 I was shocked and was just shaking my head no.
Now should I inform my insurance that this is going on? The most Ill use of the seats are for presentations or a donation to my task force for cps courses. But as a cpst I kinda feel like I should inform the insurance company the dangers of using a crashed seat. But I hate to ruffle feathers when my claim is still on going. I dunno if something like this could effect my claim?

As long as they're reimbursing you I'd wait until you get your money, then write a polite, informative letter.

I'd simply tell him that Graco says you can't use it because they don't think the seats would be safe anymore, and that most manufacturers are the same way. Just be informative, not accusatory.

I told them when I first brought up that the seats needed to be replaced because graco said so. They told me it was fine and they would but that graco said that cause they want me to buy new seats. But graco never said I had to buy graco just that they recomend I not use the crashed seats. But the guy I guess thought it was a scam? I dunno.
My insurance is handling the claim but the lady who hit me her insurance will have to pay us back. And my insurance paid for the seat already, but I have to hope the ladys insurance pays my insurance back. Its a big mess honestly and Ive asked my dad (injury lawyer) to handle it from now on.
