Proper way to to address a parent?

While dropping my daughter off at Pre K today I noticed a parent walking in with his 3 yr old and a high back Graco booster. The little girl was way smaller than my dd who is 5 and 38 lbs. Our state law is no boosters until 4 or 40lbs. Im sure parents have no clue and boosters say 30lbs. I see this all the time and I always want to say something but don't want to offend. How to you handle situations like this? Or should I let it go?

I would say something but I am bold like that. Maybe print something out and hand it to them next time you run into them. Say this is just something I wanted to share with you...

You may want to ask the pre-k director if you can pass along some info to all the parents.

Something like this might work:

http://www.modot.org/safety/newlaws.htm

If there is some confusion about the new law, here is the text of the law:

Some parents might say "appropriate child passenger restraint" includes boosters, but for Missouri, they put definitions in the law as to what it is.

(1) "Child booster seat", a seating system which meets the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards set forth in 49 C.F.R. 571.213, as amended, that is designed to elevate a child to properly sit in a federally approved safety belt system;

(2) "Child passenger restraint system", a seating system which meets the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards set forth in 49 C.F.R. 571.213, as amended, and which is either permanently affixed to a motor vehicle or is affixed to such vehicle by a safety belt or a universal attachment system;

If the booster seat uses latch connecters, it might qualify as a child passenter restraint system according to their definition, but a regular Graco Turbo Booster probably would not since it isn't affixed to the vehicle like a harnessed carseat is.

As hard as it is, I have learned to just let it go. I see misuse ALL the time. I would do nothing but say stuff to parents. Sadly, most don't care. :( Or they think they are immune. For example, I tried talking to a mom at daycare recently...her 1yr old was still in a Graco SR. I talked to her about keeping her rf'ing in a convertible. She didn't even know such a seat existed despite having a 3yr old...she went from an infant seat to a Nauti. Her 1yr old, who MIGHT weigh 20lbs is now sporting a FF convertible. But mom is driving a BRAND SPANKIN new car.

I officially give up.
