How do I find a CPST class in my area?

I was hoping to have my job pay for it, but I didn't get the job so I'm thinking that getting it on my own may make me more employable.

Also, how much does it cost on average?

I'll be working as an EMT-B. :)

Thanks!

You're welcome.

And I didn't answer your question on cost. For every class there is a SK fee, which is $75 now I think, or something close to that. And then each class can set their own 'local fee', which you'll see listed on the course page. Some are $0 local fee, so you pay just the SK fee. Some are $25, some $150, some upwards of $300...all plus the SK fee.

I know that when I was looking, all the ones here in CT were ridiculously high. Right now CT has 2 classes, they're $125 each plus the SK fee. (That's less than they were then!)

So I took a class just over the state line in NY state...paid a $25 local fee I think it was plus the SK fee. Driving was about the same.

Yay! The one closest has no local fee. I just need to see if I can stay with my friend in Fort Worth. I can't do it if I have to pay for a hotel room.

Oops...I also forgot to tell you about controlled courses. The one you're looking at is controlled.

What it means is you can't just sign up. You have to contact the instructor who must approve your entry into the class. Often a class is controlled if it's mainly for law enforcement or a specific agency, they want to be sure all of their own personnel get seats. So if you are able to arrange a place to stay, message the instructor and tell him about yourself (you're an EMT, you have children, want to become a CPST...that sort of thing) and ask him/her if you would be able to have a seat in this class.
