low back booster & no air bags

Is it a bad idea to put an almost 8yo in a lbb in a third row with no airbags? This would be for everyday use in our family vehicle. Seems a little unprotected to me, but I'd like some other opinions.

What about in the second row in the middle? There is a lap/shoulder belt & a headrest. There would (usually) be an empty seat on one side of the child, and a Radian (either ff or rf) on the other side. Since the child would be far away from the side of the car perhaps this would be a safe setup?

May I have some input on this, please?

also, can you still fit everyone in safely if the child uses a highback? can a highback be afforded? Can the child fit a highback that is in budget or that is already owned?

It depends on the situation, the child, the budget

Yes to the headrest question. There is a headrest & a lap/shoulder belt in every seating position.

Yes, I can fit a hbb into the budget.

No, I can't find a hbb that fits correctly into the spot we need it to go in! We're having a beast of a time in this regard. Lots of posts on the subject, but no winners yet. It's frustrating!
