Which seat?

I have a 2001 Ford Taurus and I have an 11 month old and he is still in a rear-facing childseat. I have him in the back middle seat right now, but does it matter which of the 3 seats the carseat goes in as long as they are in the back? The owners manual doesnt state which seat in the backseat is safest for him. Please Help!

The middle is statistically safest, but as long as he's rear facing I wouldn't stress having him on the side if that's easier.

He'll outgrow his infant seat at the weight limit, or when he has less than 1" of shell above his head. Then you need to move him to a rear facing convertible carseat as long as possible.
