Can you please post pics of your toddlers RF,so that I can see if my sons carseat is to straight up?He likes it the way it is but I want to make sure it is a safe position. The pic in my siggy I took of them tonight isn't a good angle to show the actual position.:thanx!:

Also for those of your children in britax seats,do they seem like they don't have a lot of foot room?Ds had a lot in the radian but not so much in his fpsvd. His legs seemed a little crammed, but he didn't complain at all.

I have photos of my seat, but I can't post pictures of kids in it without blacking out their faces.

Do you want pics of just Britax's? Or do you want a pic of other seats as well? I have some pics of Jenna RF in her Radian if you want those.

32 mos - ds is 5.5 mos or so, his angle was a bit more than dd's although you can't really tell in this pic.

30 mos (This was in our Saturn ION, much less room in the backseat than the truck which is where the rest of the pic's were taken.)

As you can tell, her seat has been at a variety of angles. She seemed to prefer it when it was slightly more reclined. I seemed to always end up with a slightly different angle every time I re-installed it, although that was partly because I just monkeyed with it to change it slightly to see if she liked one over the other.

Trudy~ The last one you took is how the fpsvd is installed.I can't get a recline because it isn't teethered rf,is that safe to do like that or are they too close to the seatback?

Thanks everyone for your help,I shoudl of been more specific but I was in a hurry.

Well I know that Britax likes to have seats braced, so I would think it ok to have the FPSVD right against the seat back as long as neither your vehicle manual or the FPSVD manual don't forbid it.

You can't tether the FPSVD rf'ing, but you could toy with how you push down on the seat when installing it and having the edge of the base slightly away from the crease of the vehicle seat might make a difference. Your other option would be a rolled towel or a pool noodle if you need more recline and can't get it any other way.

Oh yeah, the legs against the back of the seat is just fine. Dd is ff'ing now (hit weight limit of her seat,) and she still puts her feet up against the passenger seat the way she did the back seat when she was rf'ing. :p

So many people comment on the legs, but truth is that there are not any known incidents of broken legs due to being rf'ing, and even if there was - a broken leg is much easier to fix than a broken neck. I know you know that... but it's a good thing to be able to tell others who feel the need to make the leg comment. ;)

eta: Assuming that the seat your ds is in in your siggy is the one you're talking about, it looks just fine to me. (It's just a MA cover on the FPSVD, right? Since I see there's no lock-offs, but a Britax cover. :p )

edited again to add: My dd often would put both her feet up so that they were resting on the top of the back of the seat. Think like a V with a foot on each side of the headrest. She actually moved her legs into that position when she was asleep in her seat one night. (While she was still rf'ing.)

Is there a max angel that a RF seat can be reclined? I would like to know this for future reference and also from time to time I have my friend and her 13 month old ride with us places and she is still RF. TIA!

A RF seat angle can't exceed 45 degrees. For a young baby, that's the optimal angle so that their chin doesn't drop to their chest, but for an older baby with good head control or a toddler, having the seat more upright is fine. :)

But 45 degrees is the maximum where "l" is 0 and "_" is 90 degrees.

You can see, he's pretty upright. He hates to be reclined anymore, so I have it about as upright as I am comfortable with. Works for us!

You can see my two in my siggy pic. Also here's one where you can see the angle of the RF seat pretty well. That seat is for my almost 2 year old. I think I could easily have it even less reclined than that.
