The blog was briefly *un*published while we sorted out the issue but the link is working now.

Is it aton or anton? Also just because I am thinking of it now, wouldn't the european belt routing cause the seat to tip towards the seat back? I keep thinking it would be hard to keep in place since it looks like the shoulder belt would just push it forward. I don't know anything about european installs though. So maybe I'm just seeing it weird.

Aton.

I have never locked the seatbelt when I do European routing with the Coccoro (which is always), but Wendy does (I believe) and said she's never had an issue with it pushing forward.

The European method is the preferred installation method without the base. Please note that the Aton does not have lock-offs, so if you are installing it without a base with a sliding latchplate and switchable retractor, then you must lock the belt. We have not encountered any tipping forward due to this installation method.

Cybex- It seems I might have misunderstood your position about installing with vs without the base. At Lifesavers I thought you said that you prefer the baseless install to an install with the base, but I think maybe you meant that when installing baseless you prefer European routing vs not? Does that mean you can also install baseless without routing the shoulder belt behind the back?

I will clarify on the blog or in the comment section over there.

Cybex does not make any recommendations regarding using a base or not. However, Cybex does recommend the European method as the first choice, if installed baseless. The alternate choice would be to install using just the lap belt portion of the lap/shoulder vehicle belt under the belt guides.

If you could make that change on the blog post it would be great.
I have put together a graphic to help with this question:

I've installed Euro routing with several infant seats that allow for it over the years and I've never had an issue with a locked retractor either.
