Would you buy a floor model?

I can buy a floor model Radian XTSL for $120 or a reduced rate XTSL for $210. Both manufactured around the same time 10/2010. Covers not an issue, I'm not that picky and I figure I can always trade.

I wouldn't. You just never know what it's been through. It could have been dropped. It probably has been dropped. A kid could have sat in it to try it out and spilled his sippy of water all over the straps. It could have been run over by the forklift in the back of the store. Ok, so the last example is a little extreme, but the point is that you never know. Not worth the risk, IMO. :twocents:

I agree 100% with what Anna said. Floor models are not worth the risk. They could have been subjected to all kinds of abuse and you would never know it.

Depends on the store/location.

We keep our seats very well guarded and I have personally instructed all employees on proper handling of the seats in case they re-arrange the display. We have two CPSTs in the store and customers are always assisted when looking at or touching the seats.

I have purchased one of our floor models and use it daily.

I would not purchase a display model from a large department store that does not monitor the well being of the seats.

depends on the seat and the store... I would have bought a store-model Regent/Husky from BRU because I KNOW no one ever TOUCHED that thing... you could tell because of how perfect in place the tags were.... and how pristine the manual was.

but most seats... and most stores... no way.

from a store like autumnlily spoke about, definitely would buy.

Nope. Even I'm not gentle to a floor model.

BRU had all of their Advocate/Boulevard/Marathon store models wings broken. Someone was being mean and just snapped them all. I pointed it out and they replaced them with non broken models. But it just shows what people can do.

Cosco puts floor model do not re-sale for a reason. I was told that the floor models are not made to the same standards as the ones meant to be used in a vehicle. They leave out vital parts to cut down on cost for the store so they do not have to put a good sellable seat as a floor model.
