We've got some friends who are expecting a baby in May and who are also really struggling financially right now. She just called to ask about expiration dates, as she found a used travel system on the local classifieds. I suggested that she not pursue it, as she has no way to know the history of the seat and it will expire in December anyway.
We'd really like to help them out and purchase a new seat for them. We're hoping to keep it around $100, but could possibly go higher if another friend we've invited to pitch in decides to help out.
I'm not sure on specifics with their car situation....they have been juggling cars with her parents a bit while they try to get into a position financially to be a bit more stable. I think they are currently driving an older Dodge Caravan. I can find out more if it makes a big difference on recommendations. I do know that one of the cars they've driven has a seatbelt in the back that no longer ratchets back in when pulled all the way out (not sure if they're still driving that car anymore). Will a base with a lock-off make that seating position usable?
