    Scion XB 2008

    HI there,

I am new here and want to thank you all for the wealth of information!!! I'm so grateful to find this site.

I have an 8 month old DD who is outgrowing her infant carrier and I want to buy the best convertible car seat for my 2008 Scion XB. Most of the time she is in the back seat alone, but we do have part-time custody of my 7 year old stepdaughter so sometimes her booster shares the back seat.

I am looking at Sunshine Kids, Safety 1st and Britax. She is average height and weight.

I am wondering of course which fits the best (rear facing longest possible) but also the difference between:

Safety 1st Comfort Air and Complete Air (Comfort Air was recommended but the stores nearby only have Complete Air)

    Radian XTSL vs 80SL

    Britax Boulevard CS70, Boulevard 70, Advocate CS70, Marathon 70

I have very long legs so I would like to be able to sit in the front passenger seat if possible when my husband drives

    Thanks for all your help!!!

    Mary

    Re: Scion XB 2008

Generally a convertible seat will fit where an infant seat has. The base takes up a lot of room. The convertible seat usually can be installed more upright.

I'm not familiar with the XB. Did you try here? Put in only the make and model of car, and leave the other fields blank for the most options. I tried it, but there was a problem right now. So, give it a shot later. Also if you click on the entry, there will be more information.

(Carseat Data website closed - link broken)

Over all, all seats are tested to the same standard and passed. We don't know if one did better than the next, as that info is not released. The best seat is the one that fits the kiddo, the car and is used correctly every time!

Thanks-I checked out that website and unfortunately it wasn't very helpful. They only tested one rear facing and I really don't like that brand Evenflo.

    I'll keep looking, thanks.

The complete air can be installed nice and upright, is very narrow, and will last most kids to 3 or 4 rear-facing (or longer, my nephew was 5.5 when he got too heavy). You might even be able to put it center to save on front passenger leg room and still get a booster next to it.

How does the XB compare to the XA?

I installed the Evenflo Momentum in there. It was at 30%, I believe.

    Re: Scion XB 2008

I have a 2006 XB (the older version), and legroom has never been a problem with any seat in the back especially on the passenger side. I haven't tried the seats your considering but I have had a Baby Trend Infant seat, Alpha Omega, 2 myrides and 2 roudabouts RF on both sides and the front seats always end up in about the same place.

I'd love to move my driver's seat back 1 notch but I'm not uncomfortable and on the passenger side there is lots of room. I am 5' 6" DH is 5' 9". I do sometimes wish I had narrower seats. 2 Myrides take up the whole back seat.

    Agave-are your seats rear facing?

I purchased a Radian XTSL today and have spent the entire day reading and re-reading the manual trying to install it. I believe I did it correctly and in order for the back to not touch the front seat, I have to have the front passenger seat all the way forward (rendering it useless). I am 5'9" and my DH loves to drive so this would never work for us.

It says that with the Radian rear facing I have to use the base that comes with it and it makes it go back too far. I have tethered it also and it doesn't change the angle enough.

I'm not sure what to do next.

    Thank you

    Mary

Yes, all the seats I've tried have been rear facing. I have never been in a newer xB so I don't know how they compare in size on the inside.
