Part number request and Tether question

Could someone please look up the part number for the tether kit for a 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix? This is for my sister. I want to recommend that she get it installed, but want to give her all the info for it at once.

Also, at what point did all carseat manufacturers have a top tether on the carseats themselves? I'm not sure what kind of carseat my sister is using for my nephew. She lives out of state. So I'm not even sure if her seat has a top tether, because it is possible that her seat is a hand-me-down from a friend of hers. I know the infant seat she used when he was a baby was a hand-me-down.

    Thanks.

Re: Part number request and Tether question

I can help with the timeframe when carseats were required to have top tethers but I don't have the Pontiac's tether anchor part number info. (no LATCH manual yet but soon). Convertible and combination carseat models manufactured on or after Sept. 1, 1999 were required to have top tethers. If her carseats pre-date a 9/1/1999 date of manufacture, they are probably expired any way since most manufacturers have a 6 year expiration period (with a few exceptions like older discontinued Fisher Price models that expire 8 years from their DOM).

Hope this helps some, and a tech/poster with a LATCH manual hopefully can chime in with the part number.
    Regards,
    Jean

There are no parts numbers, you want to have her go in and ask them to refer to service bulletin no.:99-09-40-004

Re: Part number request and Tether question

Thank you both so much. I passed the information on to her, and she was very receptive to it and was asking me some follow up questions about why tether is important etc. I was very happy she interested in doing it.
